November Retreat: How to talk to your Doc
GOSHEN, Ind. - It's well known that women make the majority of healthcare decisions for their family. In fact, a 2008 poll found that an astounding 90 percent of U.S. women are responsible for healthcare decisions for themselves and their families.
The Retreat Women's Health Center wants to be sure women get the most out of not only their own doctor visits, but visits of children and loved ones as well.
On Nov. 8, mothers, daughters, sisters and friends are invited to the November Saturday Morning Retreat from 9 to 11:30 .m. at The Retreat Women's Health Center, 1135 Professional Dr., Goshen for an informative session on how to have a productive dialogue with their doctor.
To help women better understand their own health issues, board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist, Dr. Peter Delneky, MD, FACOG, will lead the discussion on gynecological health.
Led by Dr. Delneky, this look at women's personal health will help women be better prepared to talk to their doctor about any questions or concerns they might have during their next doctor's visit.
The Retreat's own Laurie Busby, Executive Director, will round out the discussion with pointers for how to talk to your doctor and get the answers you need.
"Patient-doctor relationships are incredibly important," Busby said. "With women playing such an integral role in family health-care decisions, we want to help them be informed, prepared patients not just for themselves, but for their families. The more informed you are as a patient, the better equipped you are to seek out the most complete care available to you and your family."
To complete the morning, women will have a chance to indulge in some creative cupcake decorating in anticipation of the upcoming holiday baking season.
A $5 donation is requested to support HeartStrings Sisters, providing free screening mammograms to uninsured women. Seating is limited, so please call 574-537-5000 to reserve your seat.
