Restore the Radiance
GOSHEN, Ind. –Finding the balance between sun-kissed and sun-damaged can be difficult, especially during the summer months when outdoor activities and weekend events often bring long hours in the sun.
“No matter how much we might want that bronzed skin that comes from the summer sun, we need to practice sun safety when outdoors and remember that a healthy summer glow shouldn’t come at the expense of your skin’s health,” said Laurie Busby, Executive Director of The Retreat Women’s Health Center. “There are a number of precautions women can take to ensure healthy, radiant skin.”
The Retreat Women’s Health Center wants to help women round out the remainder of summer with some sun safe reminders and tips on skin care at the “Restore the Radiance” Saturday Morning Retreat on Aug. 9, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at The Retreat Women’s Health Center, 1135 Professional Dr., Goshen.
Leading the morning will be Dr. Doug Schwartzentruber, MD, FACS, oncologist and Medical Director of Goshen Center for Cancer Care. Dr. Schwartzentruber, whose skin cancer research has earned him national recognition, will teach women about the importance of skin cancer prevention.
Joining Dr. Schwartzentruber will be Dr. Donald Ebersole, MD, who will discuss cosmetic treatment options for the skin – detailing what they are and what conditions they can be used for such as permanent hair removal, vein treatments and age spots. Licensed esthetician Jennifer Kveton will also be on hand to discuss tips on keeping your skin healthy.
“Every woman wants beautiful skin,” said Busby. “We want to educate women on the best ways to keep that beautiful skin, especially during the summer months when our exposure to the sun increases.”
To make a reservation for the Aug. 9 Saturday Morning Retreat, please call 574-537-5000. A $5 donation is requested for Saturday Morning Retreats to go to the Heart Strings Sisters to provide screening mammograms for uninsured women in the community.
